Gasps rippled through the grand hallway like wildfire. The accusation was heavy, weighted with gravity that threatened to tip the balance of power in the house.
Victoria immediately placed a dramatic, manicured hand over her chest. "That is absolutely absurd, Emily. Are you having delusions?"
Within seconds, the family members swarmed the base of the staircase. However, they didn't crowd around Emily to check her vitals. Instead, their anxious eyes darted toward Victoria. In the Reynolds household, accusing Victoria was a cardinal sin.
Victoria was the golden child.
The eldest daughter.
The undisputed heir to the family throne.
Then came the heavy, rhythmic thud of expensive leather shoes. Charles Reynolds, the billionaire patriarch who controlled every branch of the family empire, stepped forward. His sharp eyes locked onto Emily, his brow furrowed in deep annoyance.
"Do not make a scene, Emily," Charles commanded, his voice cold and unyielding.
