Chapter 18 - Unstoppable Force|

A lone emergency floodlight flickered to life on the far wall, casting long, eerie shadows across the smoke-filled room.

Four guards lay motionless on the floor.

Salvatore Moretti stood backed against the concrete wall, his silver-topped cane dropped on the floor, his face completely pale with shock and terror.

Vincent stepped out from the settling smoke. He was wearing a black tactical vest over his dark shirt, his face stained with gunpowder residue, his dark eyes burning with absolute, unbridled fury.

He didn't even look at Salvatore. He walked straight past the trembling old boss and stopped in front of Fay.

He pulled a combat knife from his belt and sliced through her ropes with a single, swift motion.

"Are you hurt?" Vincent asked, his voice low and raspy as he dropped to one knee beside her chair.

Fay shook her head, tears spilling over her lashes as she reached out and grabbed his vest. "I'm okay. I'm okay... you came."

"I told you," Vincent murmured softly, reaching up to gently cup her tear-stained cheek. "Nobody touches what is mine."

He helped her stand, keeping his arm securely wrapped around her waist to support her trembling weight.

Then, he turned slowly to face Salvatore Moretti.

Salvatore raised his hands in desperate surrender. "Vincent... wait! It was just business! We can negotiate the docks—"

Vincent didn't utter a single word. He raised his suppressed sidearm with terrifying calmness and fired once.

Salvatore collapsed to the floor.
