Chapter 13 - The Hospital Threat

|

At 4:00 AM, the emergency red phone on Dominic’s desk rang violently.

Dominic answered it on the first ring, listening in absolute silence for ten seconds before his face turned to stone.

“Where?” Dominic barked into the receiver. “Hold the floor. I’m ten minutes away.”

He slammed the phone down and grabbed his leather jacket.

“What happened?” I asked, jumping up from the leather sofa where I had been resting.

“Vincent’s men made a move on Northwestern Hospital,” Dominic said, pulling two spare magazines from his drawer and sliding them into his belt. “They bypassed the main entrance through the underground service tunnels. My guards are holding the floor, but the power in the building was just cut.”

“Tyler!” I screamed, pure panic surging through my veins.

“Stay here with Noah!” Dominic ordered, taking my shoulders in a grip of iron. “The mansion is secure!”

“No!” I cried, tears spilling down my face. “Tyler is on a life-support ventilator! If the power is cut, he can't breathe! I’m coming with you!”

Dominic stared into my eyes, seeing the desperate, fierce love of a sibling fighting for her family’s life.

He didn't argue.

“Grab a vest from the closet,” Dominic commanded, turning toward the door. “We move fast.”
