Chapter 19 - The Breach|

I stared intently at the glowing monitors, my heart pounding violently against my ribs. On the eastern perimeter feed, shadows seemed to detach themselves from the tree line. Men dressed in tactical black gear, wearing night-vision goggles, were moving silently through the woods, disabling the outer cameras one by one.

"Marco!" I shouted, pointing at the screen.

Marco rushed over, his face grim. He pressed a button on the comms console. "Boss, we have contact on the east side. Sector four. At least twenty hostiles."

"I see them," Alessandro's voice crackled back through the speaker. He sounded completely calm, almost bored. "Hold your positions. Let them breach the first fence."

I watched in horror as the tactical team cut through the reinforced chain-link, slipping onto the main grounds. They moved with military precision, flanking the house. But Alessandro's men didn't fire. They waited in the darkness, completely hidden.

"Why isn't he engaging?" I asked, my fingernails digging into my palms.

"Patience," Marco murmured, his eyes glued to the screen.

When the first group of Lorenzo's men reached the open lawn, completely exposed under the moonlight, the floodlights suddenly snapped on, blindingly bright.

"Now," Alessandro's voice commanded over the radio.

The estate erupted into chaos. Gunfire flashed from the roof, the balconies, and the tree line. Lorenzo's men were caught in a brutal, coordinated crossfire. They scrambled for cover, but there was nowhere to hide on the manicured lawn. The trap had been sprung perfectly.

But as I watched the monitors, a separate feed from the west side of the house caught my eye. While the main battle raged on the lawn, three figures were quietly rappelling down the cliff face toward the basement access vents.

"Marco," I choked out, pointing to the secondary screen. "The west side. They're coming for the bunker."

Marco drew his heavy pistol, his eyes narrowing. "Lock the secondary blast door. Do it now."
