Chapter 7 - The Confrontation

|

Four tactical guards carefully placed me onto a specialized medical gurney, hooking up an IV line to stabilize my failing pulse. Sal walked alongside me as they wheeled me up the basement stairs into the grand foyer.

The once-pristine main hall of the Kensington estate was in complete chaos.

Julian’s private security guards were pinned face-down on the marble floor, held at gunpoint by Sal’s operatives. Maya was cowering behind a grand sofa, her pale cashmere sweater stained with dust, crying hysterically.

And standing in the center of the room, held back by two towering tactical officers, was Julian Kensington.

Julian’s tailored suit was disheveled, his dark hair messy, his handsome face twisted in absolute fury.

"Do you have any idea who I am?!" Julian roared, struggling against the guards holding his arms. "This is private property! I am the CEO of Kensington Holdings! I will have every single one of you executed!"

The gurney stopped in front of him.

Julian’s eyes landed on me, resting on the stretcher under Sal’s silk coat. His expression shifted from anger to sheer disbelief.

"Victoria...?" Julian stammered, staring at my bruised face. "What is the meaning of this? Who are these people?!"

Sal stepped forward, pulling a pair of white leather gloves from his pocket and slowly pulling them on.

"Mr. Kensington," Sal said smoothly, his tone devoid of any warmth. "Thirty years ago, your father borrowed twenty million dollars from the Vance family to start your company. You built your wealth on Vance money, married a Vance daughter, and then murdered her family to take it all."

Julian’s face went deadly pale. "That's a lie! Arthur Vance died in a tragic plane crash!"

Sal pulled a thick leather folder from his inner vest pocket and tossed it onto the glass coffee table between them.

"The flight recorder was recovered two days ago from the bottom of the ocean," Sal said coldly. "And the man who planted the explosive device on that plane just signed a full confession in my office thirty minutes ago."
