Chapter 11 - The Boardroom Execution

|

The room fell into a suffocating, dead silence.

Marcus Sterling scrambled backward, knocking his leather chair over. "You're dead! Julian said you were dying in a basement!"

I stepped toward the head of the table, the sharp click of my cane echoing against the floor. Sal walked right behind me, carrying a sleek black leather briefcase.

"Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated, Marcus," I said smoothly, stopping right at the head of the table where my father used to sit.

Charles Vance stood up, his hands shaking as he tried to put on a brave face. "Victoria... my dear niece! You're alive! This is... this is a miracle! We were just organizing your family's estate to protect it—"

"Save it, Charles," I cut him off, my voice slicing through the air like razor wire. "My father treated you like a brother. He gave you a ten percent stake in this company when you were begging on the streets of Brooklyn."

"Victoria, listen to me—"

Sal stepped forward, opening his briefcase and pulling out three thick stacks of financial documents, slamming them onto the table directly in front of Charles, Marcus, and Senator Hayes.

"Those are the complete bank records from your hidden accounts in the Cayman Islands," I said calmly. "Including the wire transfers made to the mechanic who sabotaged my father's plane three years ago."

Senator Hayes' eyes went wide with terror. He grabbed his phone from the table, frantically trying to dial a number. "I'm calling the Federal Marshal—"

"Don't bother, Senator," Sal said dryly. "The Federal Marshals are currently raiding your home in Virginia. Your offshore accounts have been frozen, your political immunity has been revoked by the Supreme Court, and your arrest warrant was signed twenty minutes ago."

Sirens began wailing outside the skyscraper, echoing up through the glass windows.

I leaned forward over the mahogany table, looking directly into my uncle's terrified eyes.

"You wanted to liquidate Vance Enterprises today, Charles?" I whispered sweetly. "Congratulations. The company is officially liquidated. And every single one of your assets now belongs to me."
