Chapter 11 - The Ex-Husband's Deal

|

The kiss changed everything within the walls of the compound. Clare was no longer just the nanny; she was the quiet center of Gabriel’s violent world. But outside those heavily guarded gates, a storm was gathering.

Richard Jensen had not returned to New York after Gabriel’s men had beaten him in the Little Havana apartment. He was a humiliated, vengeful man, stripped of his control over his wife and daughter.

He spent weeks drinking in cheap motels, nursing his broken nose and his bruised ego, obsessively tracking Gabriel Salvatore’s public movements.

One sweltering evening, as Richard sat at a dive bar near the port, a man slid onto the stool next to him. He wore a crisp white linen suit and smelled of expensive cigars.

“You look like a man who has lost something valuable, Mr. Jensen,” the stranger noted, his accent distinctly Colombian.

Richard scowled, gripping his beer. “Who the hell are you?”

“My name is Alejandro Navarro,” the man smiled thinly. “And I believe we share a mutual problem. A man named Gabriel Salvatore.”

Richard froze, his eyes narrowing. “What do you want?”

“Gabriel is a very careful man,” Navarro explained, signaling the bartender for a drink. “His compound is a fortress. But every fortress has a weak point. I understand your wife and daughter are currently residing within those walls.”

“She’s my wife,” Richard spat bitterly. “He stole them from me.”

“And I can help you get them back,” Navarro offered smoothly. “Gabriel’s security relies on digital lockouts and predictable patrols. You work in financial compliance, Mr. Jensen. You understand security systems. If you can provide my men with the access codes to the compound’s secondary gates, I will personally ensure that Gabriel Salvatore is eliminated.”

Richard’s heart pounded. He knew it was a deal with the devil. The Navarro cartel was notorious for their brutality.

“If I help you get inside,” Richard said, his voice trembling slightly with malicious excitement, “I want Clare and Maya entirely unharmed. I want them handed over to me.”

“You have my word,” Navarro smiled, a cold, empty expression. “You get your family back, and I get my revenge on Salvatore. We all win.”

Richard took a deep breath, pulling his laptop from his briefcase. He didn't care about the blood that would be spilled. He only cared about regaining his control. The betrayal was sealed in the dark corner of a Miami bar.
