The autumn sun cast a warm, golden glow over the quiet grounds of the Ellen Whitaker Foundation for Victims of Domestic Abuse—a brand-new, forty-million-dollar sanctuary and recovery center located on twenty acres of pristine rolling countryside outside the city. It was a perfect day, the air crisp and carrying the faint scent of fallen leaves. The sprawling estate, once a symbol of isolation and despair for some, now stood as a beacon of hope and renewal.
The entire project had been funded using the liquidated assets of Michael’s former trust fund and the recovered proceeds from Miller Logistics. The money, once used to manipulate and control, was now being repurposed to empower and heal. The transformation was poetic, a testament to the enduring power of justice.
A crowd of two hundred guests, including doctors, social workers, and community leaders, clapped warmly as Ellen stepped up to the podium on the outdoor pavilion.
