Chapter 14 - The Final Confrontation

Ryan flinched under Sebastian’s glare, but his desperation was too strong.
"Victoria, please!" Ryan begged, his voice cracking loudly enough to attract the attention of nearby guests. "Just give me five minutes! I made the biggest mistake of my life! I don't love her! I never loved her! She trapped me!"
"Ryan!" Danielle shrieked, grabbing his arm, her face twisting in utter shock and rage. "What are you saying?! I'm carrying your child!"
"Shut up, Danielle!" Ryan snapped, shaking her off violently. "You ruined my life! You targeted my relationship because you couldn't stand seeing Victoria happy!"
Guests around the hall began whispering, pulling out their phones.
Danielle looked around at the judging eyes, her face turning crimson. She turned to me, her voice trembling with hysterical anger. "This is your fault, Victoria! You took everything from me! You took my moment! You took my dignity!"
I looked at my younger sister—the girl I had spent twenty years protecting, forgiving, and making excuses for.
I stepped out from behind Sebastian, looking down at her with absolute, unwavering calm.
"I didn't take anything from you, Danielle," I said clearly, my voice echoing across the stone floor. "You chose to walk down that aisle. You chose to ruin a wedding. You chose to build a relationship on betrayal."
I took a step closer, my emerald dress rustling smoothly.
"You thought taking Ryan would make you feel powerful," I continued softly. "But you forgot one simple thing: Ryan wasn't the reward. My strength was. And you couldn't steal that no matter how hard you tried."
Danielle burst into hysterical, frantic tears, covering her face as museum security quickly moved in to escort her and Ryan off the premises for creating a public disturbance.
Ryan looked back at me one last time as he was led away, his eyes filled with total, devastating regret.
I didn't watch them leave.

I turned back to Sebastian, took his arm, and smiled. "Shall we get that champagne now?"
Sebastian looked down at me, his eyes overflowing with pride and fierce admiration. "Whatever you want, my love. Always."
