Chapter 6
Chapter 6: The Father's Secret
Emily was so stunned she forgot to cry. Her eyes wide, she stared at Daniel, her voice choking out in absolute disbelief:
"You... you knew about this the whole time?"
Daniel turned to look at his wife, his eyes softening instantly, brimming with regret and heartbreak. Giving his head a slight shake, he replied:
"I only knew about the existence of the legal paperwork and the trust."
He paused for a beat, taking a deep breath.
"But I never truly understood the deep, underlying reason behind my father's decision..."
He slowly turned back around, directing his cold, razor-sharp gaze back to Margaret.
"...Until today."
The perfect, aristocratic, and calm facade that Margaret had meticulously built over decades finally shattered into a million pieces. She could no longer maintain the poise of a high-society matriarch. Her hands shook violently, and her voice became shrill, carrying the panic and rage of a cornered animal.
"You know nothing! You have absolutely no idea what your father's true nature was!"
She shrieked, desperately trying to smear the image of her late husband to justify her own actions. "He was a weak, pathetic failure!"
"Yes, maybe I don't know every single side of my father."
Daniel retorted calmly, refusing to let his mother's rage sway him.
"But right now, in this exact moment, I know exactly what your true nature is."

She took a step forward, trying to use the crushing weight of maternal guilt to overpower her son, her eyes flashing with furious red veins.
"You ungrateful wretch! You are willing to choose some strange, low-class woman over the mother who gave you life?!"
