Chapter 5

Chapter 5: The Files of Truth

Arthur Sterling, the man who had been the architect of her mother's suffering, sat back down, his knuckles white.
“You have no proof,” Arthur hissed, his voice trembling with rage.
Arya stepped forward, her heart racing like a trapped bird.
“I have my mother’s journals,” she said, her voice firm.
“I have the original wire transfer records,” she continued, laying the papers on the table.
“And I have a recording of you admitting to the embezzlement,” she revealed.
Arthur’s face went pale.
“That’s a lie!” he screamed, slamming his fist onto the table.
“We never recorded anything!” he blurted out, digging his own grave.
Dante smiled, a sharp, predatory grin.
“Thank you for the confirmation, Arthur,” he said.
“My security team recorded the entire conversation from the moment you entered the house,” he explained.
“Including your threats,” he added.
“And your admission of guilt,” he finalized.
The board members began to look at one another with terrified expressions.
“We were just following orders!” a woman at the end of the table cried out.
“We didn't know!” she defended herself.
Arya looked at them, seeing the same greed she had seen in Mrs. Caruso’s eyes.
“You knew,” Arya said, her voice hard as steel.
“You all knew,” she concluded.
Dante looked at the security guards standing by the door.

“Call the federal authorities,” he ordered.
“Tell them we have everything they need,” he instructed.
