Chapter 4: The Boardroom Breach

The evening sun was setting, casting long, crimson shadows through the library.

Arya stood by the heavy oak doors, listening to the muffled voices of the board members arriving.

She had traded her maid’s uniform for a simple black dress Dante had provided.

She was no longer invisible.

She was a player.

“Remember,” Dante said, adjusting his tie as he stood before her.

“Don’t let them see your fear,” he coached.

“They will try to intimidate you,” he warned.

“They will try to make you feel like the girl on her knees,” he said.

“But tonight,” he promised, “you are the one holding the gavel.”

The boardroom door opened.

A dozen men and women in tailored suits turned to look as we entered.

They looked at Dante with professional respect.

They looked at Arya with utter confusion.

“Dante,” a man with silver hair and a sharp, cruel face spoke up.

“Who is this?” he asked, pointing his glass toward Arya.

“This is Arya Mitchell,” Dante announced, his voice echoing off the walls.

“And she is the majority shareholder of the medical foundation,” he stated.

The room erupted in whispers.

“That’s impossible!” the silver-haired man shouted.

“The foundation is bankrupt!” he declared.

Arya stepped forward, clutching the folder.

“It’s only bankrupt because you stole the assets,” she said, her voice ringing clear.

The man stared at her, his face turning a deep, dangerous purple.

“You little brat,” he growled, standing up.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about,” he threatened.

Dante stepped in front of her, his hand resting on his pistol holster.

“Sit down, Arthur,” Dante said, his voice deadly quiet.

May you like

“Or you will be the one who doesn't know what happens next,” he threatened.

The room went silent.
