Chapter 16 - The Counterattack|

The Supreme Court chamber was overflowing with reporters. Julian walked in flanked by Blackwood’s expensive legal team, a smug, arrogant expression plastered on his face. He was playing the role of the heartbroken father, tragically deprived of his son by his powerful, vengeful billionaire ex-wife.
When I entered, dressed in a sleek, tailored gray suit, my posture perfect and recovered, the courtroom fell dead silent.
Julian’s lawyer opened with a tear-jerking speech about my mental instability, submitting the forged medical evaluations.
The Chief Justice—not the bribed judge, thankfully—adjusted his glasses and looked at me. “Miss Sterling, how do you respond to these allegations?”
I stood up and calmly walked to the witness stand.
“Your Honor, I don't need to defend my sanity. I merely wish to introduce my own witness.”
The heavy doors opened. The psychiatrist who had signed Julian’s fake reports walked in, looking like a dead man walking. Julian jumped out of his chair, his eyes bulging in sheer panic.
Over the next fifteen minutes, the doctor confessed on the record to accepting a $500,000 bribe from Julian to falsify my psychological profile.
But I wasn't done. I gestured to my lawyer, who handed the judge the stack of evidence detailing Julian’s tax evasion, money laundering, and the offshore bribes to the initial judge.

“Your Honor, this man is not only unfit to be a father. He is a financial criminal trying to use a newborn baby as a human shield for his illegal empire.”
Julian was hyperventilating. He turned to beg Blackwood’s lawyers for help, but they were already packing up their briefcases, actively avoiding his gaze. He was a pawn that had just been violently sacrificed.
