Chapter 15 - The Family's Wrath|

Within 48 hours, Sterling’s underground intelligence network—funded by millions of dollars annually—demonstrated its terrifying efficiency.

Eleanor placed three thick dossiers on my hospital desk.

“This is everything you need,” she said, her eyes glinting like freshly sharpened blades.

I opened the first file. It contained decrypted logs of cryptocurrency transfers between shell companies owned by Marcus Blackwood and offshore accounts belonging to the judge who signed the injunction.

The second file made my blood run cold. It was Julian’s dossier. Not only had he been cheating on me, but during our marriage, he had set up fraudulent trust funds in my name to evade taxes and launder money for his illicit side businesses. He had planned to make me his fall guy if the feds ever came knocking.

“He planned to send me to federal prison even before the divorce,” I whispered, a chill running down my spine. How could I have ever loved this demon?

“And the third file,” Eleanor tapped her manicured finger on the final folder. “A key witness. The psychiatrist who signed the fake evaluation claiming you were insane. My security detail 'invited' him for tea at a warehouse outside the city. He is very eager to testify against Julian in order to keep his miserable life.”

I closed the folders and took a deep, steadying breath.

“Tomorrow is the preliminary hearing,” I said. “I will take the stand myself. I want to crush his last shred of hope with my own hands.”

“Do what you must, Clara. The entire empire stands behind you.”
