Chapter 12 - Sudden Agony|

The pain struck so violently that my knees buckled, and I collapsed right in front of the revolving doors.

“Miss!” My lead bodyguard lunged forward, catching me before I hit the unforgiving marble floor.

Cold sweat drenched my forehead. I clutched my stomach, trying to gasp for air, but the contractions were incredibly intense. I was only eight and a half months along. It wasn't time yet. The extreme stress and the adrenaline spike of facing Julian must have triggered premature labor.

The glass doors behind me pushed open. Julian stepped out, a vicious, calculating gleam in his eyes.

“Oh my, look at the mighty heir falling apart,” he sneered. He quickly pulled out his phone, pretending to call for an ambulance, but I could see the red record button on his screen. “If you die on the delivery table, or if something happens to that kid... guess who gets to step up as the grieving father and claim guardianship over your estate?”

“Get... get me out of here!” I ground out through clenched teeth to my guards, refusing to look at that monster.

“Call in the family's medical chopper right now!” the bodyguard barked into his radio. He scooped me up into his arms and sprinted toward the armored SUV waiting on the street.

My vision blurred from the agonizing pain. The blaring city sirens and the gray sky spun wildly above me. In my haze, I only had one thought: I have to survive. This baby is the only light in my life, and I will not let Julian’s filthy hands touch him.

“Mother is here,” Eleanor’s voice crackled through the SUV’s comms system, filled with terror and absolute fury. “Hold on, my girl. I will butcher anyone who did this to you.”
