The fallout from Julian Vance’s arrest was spectacular and immediate. By the time the evening news aired, the story of the acting CEO of Thorne Industries being hauled out of an abandoned airfield in handcuffs was broadcasting on every major financial network across the globe.
As predicted, the stock market reacted violently. Shares of Thorne Industries plummeted by twenty percent in a matter of hours, fueled by the uncertainty of the federal raid and the massive leadership vacuum.
Marcus sat in his study at the estate, watching the red numbers scroll across his financial monitors. Khloe walked in, carrying a tray with hot tea, and set it on the desk.
"The news is calling it the biggest corporate scandal of the decade," Khloe said softly, standing behind his chair and massaging his tense shoulders. "Are you okay, Marcus? Watching your company take a hit like this?"
Marcus leaned back into her touch, reaching up to hold her hand.
"I have never been better," Marcus admitted, and to Khloe’s surprise, a genuine smile broke across his face.
"You're smiling while your stock tanks?" Khloe asked, amused.
"The stock crashing is exactly what I wanted," Marcus explained, turning his chair to face her. "Julian thought he could use the board to force me out. But now, with the stock at rock bottom and the corrupt board members under federal investigation, they are terrified. They are desperate to sell their shares to avoid the legal fallout."
Khloe’s eyes widened as she understood his strategy. "You are going to buy them out."
"Every single one of them," Marcus nodded fiercely. "I am using my personal trust to buy back the controlling interest at a fraction of the cost. By the end of the week, Thorne Industries will no longer be a publicly traded company at the mercy of a greedy board of directors. I am taking it entirely private. I will be the sole owner."
"And then what?" Khloe asked, sitting on the edge of the desk.

"Then, I clean house. I fire anyone loyal to Julian's toxic culture," Marcus said, his voice filled with a renewed, unshakeable purpose. "I rebuild the company to focus on sustainable, ethical investments. I build an empire that Maya can actually be proud of one day."
Khloe leaned down and kissed him deeply, feeling the immense strength and integrity of the man she loved. The storm had not destroyed them; it had cleared the path for a beautiful new beginning.
