Chapter 25 - A New Beginning

"You belong exactly where you want to be," Julian whispered fiercely, his thumbs gently wiping away her tears. "And I want you right here. With me."

Maya looked up at him, her heart hammering wildly against her ribs. "Julian, the press... your board of directors... they will tear us apart. They will say I’m just a gold digger who planned all of this."

"I don't care about the press, and I own the board of directors," Julian declared with absolute, unyielding conviction. "I spent my entire life trying to meet the expectations of people who didn't actually care about me. Victoria was the perfect, high-society match on paper, and she tried to murder me. You had absolutely nothing to gain and everything to lose, and you risked your life to save mine. You are the most real, incredible person I have ever known."

He leaned his forehead against hers, his breath warm against her skin.

"I don't want you to stay because you need protection, Maya," Julian confessed, his voice dropping to a raw, vulnerable whisper. "I want you to stay because I am completely in love with you. I want you to go back to art school. I want you to paint in the sunroom. I want to build a life with you that is actually real."

Maya stared into his eyes, seeing the absolute truth shining through them. The fear and insecurity that had anchored her down for so long simply melted away.

She smiled, a brilliant, radiant expression that lit up the entire room. She wrapped her arms securely around his neck, pulling him incredibly close.

"Okay," Maya whispered softly against his lips. "I'll stay."

Julian kissed her, no longer a kiss born of adrenaline or fear, but a deep, passionate promise of a beautiful future. The shattered glass and the poisoned juice were entirely behind them. A new empire was beginning, built not on lies and betrayal, but on absolute trust and profound love.
