Chapter 4: Power Redefined

Security appeared at the edges of the ballroom—not the venue’s staff, but men in identical dark suits.

They weren’t loud.

They didn’t need to be.

The message was clear.

The balance of power had shifted.

The groom finally spoke, his voice uncertain. “What… what do you want?”

The man looked back at the boy, who had stopped crying but still clung to his mother.

“What do you want?” he asked him gently.

The boy hesitated. The entire room leaned in.

“I… I just want her to say sorry,” he whispered.

It was so simple.

So small.

And somehow, it hit harder than any threat.

The woman froze.

Apologize?

To a child she had just called worthless?

“Now,” the man said quietly.

Her lips trembled. Her pride cracked. And finally, in front of everyone—

“I’m… sorry.”

The boy nodded slightly, but didn’t smile.

Because some things don’t disappear with words.
