Chapter 7 - The Trap is Set

The following morning, Aleandro summoned Silvio to the study.
The rain had returned, beating violently against the massive arched windows. Aleandro stood with his back to the door, watching the storm, his hands clasped behind his back.
"You wanted to see me, Don Aleandro?" Silvio asked, his voice overly confident as he stepped into the room.
Aleandro turned around slowly. "I have a task for you, cousin. A task of absolute importance."
"Anything for the family," Silvio lied smoothly.
"The Russian factions are meeting tonight at the downtown luxury hotel," Aleandro said, fabricating the story with flawless, chilling precision. "I need you to take your best men—your entire personal detail—and stake out the perimeter. I want eyes on every man who walks into that lobby. Do not engage. Just observe."
Silvio frowned slightly. "My entire detail? Boss, shouldn't I leave some men at the eastern warehouse to guard the... recent acquisitions?"
"The warehouse is secure," Aleandro dismissed with a wave of his hand. "This meeting takes priority. I need my most trusted capo on the front lines tonight."
The appeal to his ego worked perfectly. Silvio’s chest puffed out slightly. He believed he had successfully diverted Aleandro’s attention away from the missing maid and the stolen cargo.
"Consider it done," Silvio smirked. "I will pull my men from the shipyard and head downtown immediately."
"Excellent," Aleandro smiled—a cold, terrifying expression that didn't reach his eyes. "Do not fail me, Silvio."
As the heavy doors closed behind his cousin, Marco stepped out from the adjoining private corridor.
"He took the bait," Marco noted, checking his watch. "He’s pulling his guards away from the warehouse to cover the fake Russian meeting."
"He won't pull all of them," Aleandro corrected, strapping a heavy Kevlar vest over his dress shirt. "He will leave two or three men behind to guard the girl. Men he pays personally to keep quiet. It won't be an empty building."

Aleandro holstered a suppressed 9mm pistol under his arm and grabbed a heavy tactical flashlight. He looked at Marco, the civilized veneer of the billionaire CEO entirely stripped away, revealing the ruthless enforcer who had built the empire in blood.
"We leave in ten minutes," Aleandro ordered. "Nobody knows we are gone. We hit the warehouse, we secure Elena, and we leave no witnesses."
