Chapter 2: The Viper in White

A few feet away, stepping out from the shade of the portico, was Clara. Dressed in an immaculate, sharply tailored white suit, Clara moved with the predatory grace of someone who lived entirely for control, wealth, and status. Her eyes, cold and calculating, scanned Elena’s gentle posture with deep-seated disdain.

Clara despised Elena. She mistook Elena’s natural grace and quiet kindness for a pathetic lack of backbone. For years, a toxic jealousy had festered inside Clara, and today, in the absolute isolation of the private garden, that venom was ready to spill over.

"You really think a few tears will secure your place here, don't you?"

Clara’s voice cut through the peaceful morning breeze like a serrated blade.

Elena turned, her expression guarded but remarkably calm. There was no theatrical gasp, no dramatic widening of the eyes—just the subtle, weary micro-expression of a woman who had endured this torment for too long.

"I am just enjoying the morning, Clara," Elena replied, her voice soft but firm. "Let’s not do this today. Not in front of my son."

Clara took a deliberate step closer, the sharp heels of her designer shoes clicking rhythmically against the wet stone deck.

"Arthur gives you everything," Clara sneered, her lip curling in a subtle display of disgust. "This villa. The cars. The lifestyle. But you and I both know you don't belong in this world. You are nothing without his name. Just a fragile, pathetic little bird trapped in a gilded cage."
