Chapter 15 - The New Reign

|

The return to the estate was a quiet, triumphant victory.

The medical team quickly patched Damon’s shoulder—a clean through-and-through wound that barely slowed him down.

When they walked into the master suite, Zuri was awake, sitting in the middle of the massive bed, surrounded by coloring books.

When she saw Damon, she threw her arms up. “Papa Damon!”

Damon crossed the room, scooping the little girl into his uninjured arm, holding her tightly against his chest. He buried his face in her dark curls, inhaling the scent of her child's shampoo, tears finally breaking through his iron resolve. He had avenged his wife, and he had his daughter back.

Naomi stood in the doorway, watching them. Her heart ached with a profound, overwhelming love for the man she had once been terrified of.

Over the next few weeks, the Ashford empire stabilized under Damon’s iron grip. With Silas gone, the loyalists rallied behind their true king.

But Damon didn't just reclaim his throne; he reshaped his life.

He publicly announced Zuri as his biological daughter, weaving a brilliant, protective lie for the press about a surrogate hiding in Europe. The world celebrated the return of the billionaire’s heir.

And Naomi? She didn't return to a maid’s uniform.

Damon named her the head of the Ashford Charitable Foundation, giving her an office on the top floor of his corporate skyscraper. She was his partner, in every sense of the word.

One evening, Damon and Naomi sat on the terrace of the estate, watching the sunset over the city skyline. Zuri was asleep inside.

“It’s finally quiet,” Naomi murmured, leaning her head against Damon’s shoulder.

“It’s peaceful,” Damon agreed, wrapping his arm around her. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the small black velvet box.

He opened it, revealing Elena’s sapphire ring.

“This belonged to her,” Damon said softly. “But she would want it to belong to the woman who saved her child. Who saved me.”

He looked at Naomi, his eyes intense and deeply vulnerable. “Marry me, Naomi. Not for protection. But because I can't imagine this empire without you.”

Naomi smiled, tears filling her eyes. She held out her hand.

“Yes.”
