Chapter 21 - The Emergency SummonsThree hours later, the secure video conference link between Cannon Beach and Manhattan was established.

Claire Whitmore sat at the head of the polished mahogany table in the Whitmore Global executive boardroom, her face carved from cold, uncompromising granite. Beside her, Walter adjusted the digital display to project the full legal text of the Singapore Maritime injunction onto the wall screen.
In Oregon, Liam and Amy sat side by side in the library office, with Daniel patched in from his new property site near Pacific City.
"It’s a predatory legal trap," Daniel’s voice rang through the speakers, tight with controlled fury. "Arthur Sterling must have stashed the primary trust deed in a secondary Swiss deposit box that didn't trigger the domestic bankruptcy disclosures. When he spoke to Evelyn Vance in federal prison last week, they coordinated the filing."
"They're trying to force us into a corner," Claire said, her dark eyes flashing with lethal precision. "If we don't settle the easement claim by midnight, they seize the water grid. Once they control the infrastructure, the municipal council will be forced to revoke the park zoning permits due to public health code violations."
"And if we fight it through the standard appellate courts?" Amy asked, her voice steady despite the overwhelming pressure.
"Appeals will take at least six weeks," Walter interjected grimly, tapping a stack of legal briefs. "By then, the winter storms will have hit the coast, and without active heating and water utilities, the library and bookstore will suffer catastrophic pipe bursts and structural water damage."
Liam leaned forward into the camera microphone. "There has to be a counter-clause. Every maritime covenant has a forfeiture escape hatch."
"There is one," Claire replied, a razor-sharp edge entering her tone. "Section 4 of the original 1946 accord. The easement can be permanently extinguished if the current surface property owner demonstrates an active, overriding public utility designation endorsed by the state governor’s office within twelve hours."
Daniel whistled softly. "Getting the governor’s emergency endorsement by midnight on a Friday? That’s practically impossible through normal bureaucratic channels."
"Good thing we aren't using normal channels," Claire said, standing up from her executive chair.
Walter blinked in surprise. "Claire, what are you planning?"
"I’m flying to Salem on the corporate jet right now," Claire stated, buttoning her blazer with absolute authority. "I’ll meet the state attorney general and the governor’s chief of staff at the capital building by 4:00 PM. Daniel, I need you to pull the original land patent deeds from your vault and meet me on the tarmac. Liam, stay on site with Amy—keep the local community informed, but do not let any municipal inspectors touch the utility panels until I give the word."

Amy looked at Claire through the screen, seeing the exact same fierce, unyielding woman who had torn down Ethan’s empire from the inside out.
"Do what you need to do, Claire," Amy said softly. "We're holding the line here."
