Chapter 26 - The Wolf's Peace|

The flight to the Maldives was long, but the moment we stepped off the plane, the tropical heat melted away any lingering tension in my bones. We had rented a private, over-water villa, completely isolated from the world of syndicates, shipping lanes, and corporate warfare.

On the third evening, I walked out onto the wooden deck of our villa. The ocean was a deep, mesmerizing blue, blending perfectly with the twilight sky. There were no guards, no secure perimeters, and no encrypted phones ringing in my pocket. For the first time in my life, I was completely untethered from the Vale legacy.

Clara stepped out beside me, wearing a light summer dress that fluttered in the warm ocean breeze. She slipped her arm through mine, resting her head on my shoulder.

"You look relaxed," she noted softly, looking up at me.

"I am," I admitted, breathing in the salty air. "I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, for a crisis to pull me back. But... it's just quiet."

"You built that quiet, Sebastian," she said, her voice filled with conviction. "You paid for this peace with blood, sweat, and thirteen years of sacrifice. You earned it."

Inside the villa, we could hear Emma giggling as she played a board game, the sound echoing out over the calm water.

I looked down at the black wolf tattoo on my arm, tracing the lines of the ink with my thumb. The wolf had been a symbol of vengeance, of protecting the pack at all costs. But looking at it now, under the starry tropical sky, it meant something else. It meant survival. It meant endurance.

I kissed Clara gently on the forehead, pulling her close. The past was finally a closed chapter. The wolf was at rest, and for the first time, I was simply Sebastian.

The pack was whole, and we were finally free.
