Chapter 14 - The Corsican Ghost|

The truce with the Volkovs provided a brief respite, but the pressure was mounting. With our combined intelligence networks, Marcus and Igor began tracing the Corsicans' movements. They were a ghost organization, operating through shell companies and untraceable crypto-wallets.
I spent the afternoon in the estate's library, reviewing financial documents that Marcus had intercepted. Emma sat on the rug nearby, drawing another picture with her crayons, the two pups sleeping at her feet.
"Uncle Seb, why are you always looking at boring papers?" she asked, holding up a bright green crayon.
"Because these papers tell a story, Emma," I replied, offering her a tired smile. "They tell me where bad people are hiding."
Clara walked in, carrying a tray of sandwiches. "Any luck finding the ghosts?"
"A little," I said, tapping a printed spreadsheet. "The Corsicans are funneling money through a real estate firm downtown. They’re buying up warehouses in the industrial district. They need a staging ground for their soldiers."
"So, we hit the warehouses?" Clara asked, setting the tray down.
"Viktor wants to strike tonight. But it feels too easy. These people orchestrated a flawless ambush at the Red Lotus. Why would they leave a paper trail leading straight to their base of operations?"
"A trap," Marcus said, entering the library. "Viktor just called. He's mobilizing his men. He plans to raid the main warehouse in three hours."
"He's going to walk right into an ambush," I cursed, standing up. "If Viktor gets wiped out, we lose our buffer, and the Corsicans will come straight up this mountain for us."

"What do we do?" Marcus asked.
"We go to the industrial district. But we don't go to the warehouse. We find their actual command center while Viktor creates a distraction. We have to cut off the head of the snake tonight."
