Chapter 10 - The Mountain Fortress

|
The assault on Silvio’s mountain fortress was not a stealth operation. It was a declaration of absolute dominance.
A convoy of black, armored SUVs tore through the winding Alpine roads, tearing through the rain and fog. Elias sat in the lead vehicle, loading magazines into a customized assault rifle. He wore full tactical gear, the polished mafia boss replaced entirely by a ruthless warlord.
Seraphina sat beside him, wearing a kevlar vest over a dark sweater.
“You should have stayed at the estate with Leo,” Elias said, his voice tight with protective anxiety.
“If Silvio wins tonight, the estate won’t be safe anyway,” Seraphina replied, her voice steady. “I need to see the man who betrayed your father, and who tried to kill me, fall.”
Elias reached over, gripping her hand tightly. The warmth of his touch grounded her against the terrifying reality of the violence to come.
The convoy reached the heavy iron gates of Silvio’s compound. They didn't slow down.
The lead vehicle, reinforced with a massive steel ram, slammed into the gates at eighty kilometers an hour. The iron shattered, twisting violently as the SUVs poured into the courtyard.
Gunfire erupted instantly.
Silvio’s guards fired from the balconies, heavy automatic weapons raining bullets down upon the vehicles. Elias kicked his door open, using the armored door as a shield, and returned fire with devastating accuracy.
“Move!” Elias roared to his men.
The Moretti loyalists swarmed the compound, overwhelming the defenders with sheer, brutal force. The courtyard became a chaotic, deafening warzone of muzzle flashes and shattered stone.
Elias grabbed Seraphina’s hand, dragging her behind him as he pushed through the heavy oak doors of the main house.
The interior was a slaughterhouse. Elias didn't hesitate. He dropped two guards in the foyer with ruthless precision, his face an emotionless mask of lethal intent.
They fought their way up the grand staircase, moving toward the master study where Silvio was likely hiding.
As they reached the top of the stairs, the door to the study swung open.
Silvio stood there, holding a heavy revolver, his silver hair messy, his face pale with the realization that his coup had failed spectacularly. He grabbed a young, terrified maid who had been hiding in the hallway, pulling her in front of him as a human shield.
“Drop the weapon, Elias!” Silvio screamed, pressing the barrel of the revolver against the weeping maid’s temple. “Or I paint the walls with her brains!”
Elias froze, his assault rifle raised but unable to take a clean shot.
“You are a coward, Uncle,” Elias snarled, his eyes burning with fury. “Using innocent women to protect yourself.”
“I am a survivor!” Silvio spat back. “I survived your brutal father, and I will survive you! You think you are a king, Elias? You are nothing but a boy playing with a broken toy!”
He gestured with the gun toward Seraphina.
“And you brought the Falcone trash right to my door,” Silvio laughed darkly. “You don't even know the truth, do you, Elias?”
May you like
“The truth about what?” Elias demanded, keeping his weapon perfectly steady.
“About who actually ordered the massacre twenty years ago,” Silvio sneered, a wicked, triumphant smile spreading across his face.
