Chapter 12 - The Harbor Raid

|

The rain began to fall in heavy, icy sheets as Luca’s armored SUV tore through the empty streets toward the harbor.

He didn't bring an army. He brought Matteo and four of his deadliest enforcers. A massive convoy would give Moretti time to run. A surgical strike would cut the head off the snake before it realized it was bleeding.

Pier 4 was a desolate stretch of rusted shipping containers and decaying warehouses, owned by shell companies untraceable to the mafia. Dominic Moretti’s black town car was parked outside Warehouse 7, surrounded by armed guards.

Luca didn't wait for his men to park.

He kicked the door open while the SUV was still moving, sliding behind a stack of wooden pallets as his men engaged the perimeter guards. The firefight was swift and brutal. Luca moved with terrifying efficiency, dropping two men with precise headshots before kicking the side door of the warehouse open.

Inside, Dominic Moretti was pacing nervously, screaming into a cell phone. Charles Harland, the traitorous estate manager, stood shivering in the corner, clutching a briefcase.

“What do you mean the assault team is dead?!” Moretti yelled into the phone, his face red with fury.

“It means your information was flawed, Dominic,” Luca said loudly, stepping out of the shadows.

Moretti dropped the phone, spinning around to face the barrel of Luca’s gun. His bodyguards raised their weapons, but Matteo and the enforcers flooded the room behind Luca, outnumbering them instantly.

“Stand down, or die right now,” Matteo barked.

The bodyguards, realizing the war was lost, slowly lowered their guns, raising their hands in surrender.

Moretti took a trembling step back, his arrogance vanishing into sheer terror.

“Luca, let’s talk about this. It was just business. A power play. We can renegotiate the borders.”

“You attacked my home,” Luca said, his voice deadly calm as he closed the distance between them. “You endangered a three-year-old child and her mother. There are no borders left to negotiate. Your family is finished.”

Charles Harland dropped to his knees, sobbing openly.

“Mr. Ferraro! Please! I didn't know they were going to attack the house! He just wanted the security codes!”

Luca didn't even look at his former employee. He kept his eyes locked on Moretti.

“Matteo,” Luca ordered coldly. “Take Harland to the docks. Make sure he learns how to swim with heavy pockets.”

Harland screamed as two enforcers dragged him backward out of the warehouse.

Luca raised his gun, aiming directly between Moretti’s terrified eyes.

“This is for Nora,” Luca whispered.

The gunshot echoed over the crashing waves of the harbor, ending the Moretti syndicate forever.
