Chapter 11: The Anthem of Freedom

Chapter 11: The Anthem of Freedom

A year after James’s final desperate visit, the coastal town hosted a spectacular event: "The Blue Ocean Fashion Week", co-organized by The Open Seam and Eleanor's charity.

There was no red carpet, nor any pretentious socialites draped in overpriced haute couture. The runway was built directly upon the soft, white sand, illuminated by the natural golden hue of the setting sun.

The models walking the runway were the women of the town, young girls from the orphanage, and everyday working-class citizens. They proudly wore garments crafted from upcycled materials, organic linen, and exquisite hand-embroidered patterns designed by Lily and Clara.

The show's grand finale was a breathtaking gown of deep ocean blue, shimmering with delicate vintage lace repurposed from Lily's mother's original wedding dress. When Clara stepped out onto the runway alongside Lily to take their bows as designers, the entire beach erupted into roaring applause and tears of joy.

Later that night, after the guests had departed, Lily and Eleanor sat side-by-side on the shore, listening to the rhythmic lull of the waves.

"Do you think Mom can see us?"

Lily asked softly, resting her head on Eleanor's shoulder.

Eleanor wrapped her arm tightly around her niece, looking up at the canopy of stars.

"She is smiling down on us, Lily. Sarah always wanted her designs to bring confidence and genuine joy to people, not to be used as currency for cheap ambition. We finally brought her dream to life."

They were no longer the elite names ruling over New York high society. They no longer owned multi-million dollar estates. But in that moment, as they shared a smile under the coastal moonlight, they knew they possessed the greatest wealth of all:

The absolute freedom to be exactly who they were, and a real family bound by nothing but pure, unadulterated love.
