Chapter 4: The Letter Without a Return Address

Three months later...

The children's advocacy center had become a place where frightened voices slowly learned to speak.

Every drawing on the walls told a story.

Every smile had once been hidden behind fear.

One rainy afternoon...

A plain white envelope arrived.

No stamp.

No return address.

Only one word written across the front.

Sophie.

She unfolded the single sheet inside.

There was no signature.

Just one sentence.

"You saved more than one child that day."

Tucked behind the note was an old photograph.

The hotel lobby.

Taken from another angle.

Someone had been watching everything.

On the back, written in faded ink:

"There are still people who never paid for what they did."

Sophie stared at the picture.

Evelyn quietly walked beside her.

"What is it?"

Sophie looked at the photograph one last time before slipping it back into the envelope.

"I don't know..."

"But I think our story isn't the only one."

Outside...

The rain slowly stopped.

Somewhere in the city...

May you like

Someone watched the center from inside a parked car.

Then quietly drove away.
