Chapter 17 - The Geneva Connection

The revelation that the Chairman’s power center was thousands of miles away fundamentally shifted our strategy. We were no longer fighting a localized mafia; we were battling an entrenched, international syndicate hiding behind the veneer of high-society wealth.

I returned to the mansion just as Marcus finalized his hack into the Cayman Islands registry.

"Miller was telling the truth," Marcus said, spinning his laptop around to show me a complex web of financial routing nodes. "Aegis Equities was incorporated by a proxy firm. But the initial seed money—fifty million dollars—was transferred from a highly secure private vault at the Banque de L'Ombre in Geneva, Switzerland."

Mara looked at the screen, her brow furrowed in deep thought. "The Bank of Shadows. It’s notorious. They cater exclusively to ultra-high-net-worth individuals who require absolute anonymity. They don't use digital records for their most secure clients. Everything is kept on paper in physical vaults deep underground."

"If we want to know who the Chairman is, the answer is in that vault," I said, a dangerous plan forming in my mind.

"We can't just ask the Swiss police to raid a private bank based on a hunch and a hacked database," Grant pointed out over the speakerphone. "They'll laugh us out of the country."

"We aren't going to ask the police," I replied. "I'm going to Geneva. Marcus, you're coming with me. We need someone who can bypass their physical security systems."

"It's a suicide mission," Mara argued, stepping in front of me, her eyes flashing with protective anger. "You are walking right into the Chairman's stronghold. If he finds out you're there, you'll disappear just like Charles."

"If I don't go, Charles dies tomorrow," I reminded her softly. "And Leo will never truly be safe. The legacy ends in that vault, Mara. One way or another."

I placed my hands on her shoulders. "I need you to take Leo and go to the safest place Grant can find. Disappear. Do not tell me where you are going. If they capture me, I can't give you up if I don't know where you are."

Mara looked at me, her expression softening into a terrified, heartbreaking resolve. She nodded slowly. "Bring Charles back. And come back to us."

Within three hours, Marcus and I were on a private jet soaring over the Atlantic, leaving the fragile safety of home behind, flying directly into the heart of the storm.
