Chapter 16 - THE FINAL SHOWDOWN|

The war with the Moretti family reached its boiling point forty-eight hours later.
Frank Moretti, desperate and losing ground, had retreated to his heavily fortified compound near the docks, surrounding himself with his remaining loyal soldiers.
Vincent stood on a hill overlooking the compound, wearing a tactical vest over his black shirt. Beside him stood Tony and Sal, along with thirty of the most loyal men in Chicago.
"Don Vincent," Tony said, handing him an earpiece. "The perimeter guards have been neutralized. We move on your order."
Vincent looked back toward the city lights in the distance—toward his mansion where Elena and Sophie were sleeping under guard. He remembered the promise he had made to his late wife seventeen years ago, and the promise he had made to a little girl bleeding in a restaurant.
"No survivors," Vincent commanded quietly. "End this tonight."
The raid was fast, violent, and absolute.
Vincent’s forces swept through the compound like a hurricane. Explosions shook the docks as heavy gunfire lit up the night sky. Vincent moved through the corridors with cold, lethal precision, clearing room after room until he kicked open the doors to the main office.
Frank Moretti was scrambling toward a secret exit, a heavy duffel bag of cash slung over his shoulder.
"Vincent!" Moretti screamed, spinning around and raising a handgun.
BANG!
Vincent fired first. The shot struck Moretti’s shoulder, knocking him off his feet and spinning him onto his back.
Vincent walked over slowly, standing over his bleeding rival, pointing his gun directly at Moretti’s forehead.
"Please... Vincent... mercy," Moretti begged, tears streaming down his face. "We were brothers once!"

"Brothers don't target children, Frank," Vincent said coldly.
BANG.
