Chapter 10
Chapter 10: The Unbroken String
Opening night at The Melody House.
The auditorium was packed.
I stood in the back, leaning against the wall.
The stage lights came on.
A little girl walked out.
She was seven years old.
Her clothes were too big.
Her eyes were wide and terrified.
She held a small violin.
She froze.
The crowd waited.
Then, Claire walked onto the stage.
She didn't wear a borrowed white dress this time.
She wore a beautiful, tailored evening gown.
Her hair was long and perfectly styled.
She knelt beside the little girl, just as her instructor had done for her years ago.
"You are the bravest student I've ever taught," Claire whispered.
The little girl looked at her.
She nodded.
She raised her violin.
And played.
I watched Claire watching the girl.
The circle was complete.
The inheritance wasn't money.
May you like
It was healing.
And the music played on.
